Privately owned by First Central Group, it specialises in providing competitive prices for a number of Defaqto-rated car insurance products. These are sold by First Central Insurance Management Ltd, better known on the market as 1st Central.

Formed and incorporated in Gibraltar on 6th August 2007, 1st Central Underwriting plays a prominent role in the success of the Group, through evaluating the risk and profitability of private motor insurance for UK-based consumers, writing the private motor policy premiums and establishing the right base underwriting price.
Licensed by the Gibraltar Financial Services Commission, products are distributed under the terms of a service agreement with First Central Insurance Management Limited, trading as 1st Central, a UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) regulated insurance intermediary.
Our team based in Gibraltar consists of highly experienced colleagues who utilise agile, real-time pricing, data-driven risk selection and anti-fraud capabilities, setting 1st Central Underwriting apart from its competitors.
First Central Underwriting Limited is a member of the UK's Financial Services Compensation Scheme, Financial Ombudsman Service and Association of British Insurers.
In April 2024, Skyfire Insurance changed its name to First Central Underwriting Limited (trading as 1st Central Underwriting).
